What we collect

Information you give us: name, email and message when you contact us; email address if you subscribe or submit an opt-in or pop-up form; feedback you submit in on-page surveys.

Automatic data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring page and approximate location, collected via cookies and similar technologies.

Comments: if comments are enabled, name, email, IP address and user agent, used for spam detection.

How we use it

To run and secure the site, answer messages, send newsletters you opted into, understand which guides are useful, prevent spam and fraud, and comply with law.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics and Google Site Kit to measure traffic, and a consent banner so non-essential cookies load only after you agree where required. See our Cookie Policy. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings and your browser.

Third-party services that may receive data

Google (Analytics, Search Console), our form, email and pop-up tools (WPForms, OptinMonster, Hostinger Reach), our on-page survey tool (UserFeedback), our hosting provider (Hostinger) and caching service (LiteSpeed), and spam-filtering services. Each processes data under its own privacy policy.

We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. When you click an Amazon link, Amazon sets its own cookies and learns that you came from our site; we do not receive your Amazon account or payment details. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers above, to comply with law, or to protect our rights.

Retention

Form submissions and email subscriptions are kept until you ask us to delete them or you unsubscribe. Analytics data follows the retention setting configured in our Google Analytics account. Comments are kept until removed.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California) you may request access, correction, deletion or portability of your data, or opt out of sale or sharing (we do not sell data). Email corrections@thebirdfeederguide.com; we respond within 30 days.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Security and international transfers

We use HTTPS and reasonable safeguards, but no system is perfectly secure. Providers may process data outside your country under standard protections.

Changes

We will update this page and its date when our practices change.
