Buyer Checklist
Four decisions matter more than any single spec.
1. Camera and video
Resolution (2K, 4K), HDR, autofocus and field of view decide picture quality. Two-lens models add a wide view of the whole feeder next to a close-up.
2. AI bird identification and cost
Some brands include species ID, others charge a subscription after a free trial. Check what is free, what is paid and what happens if you stop paying.
3. Power and Wi-Fi
Look for solar charging and a large battery. Most feeders use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, which reaches farther across a yard; a few also support 5 GHz.
4. Mounting and squirrels
Camera feeders are heavy and expensive, so mount them on a pole with a baffle and keep them away from jump-off points.
